Here I Am sets the stage for the young child to understand the sacramentality of the body and the reality of our embodiment in a culture of confusion about our bodies and what they mean.
This book is an answer to prayers for Parents and Grandparents concerned about the confusing and conflicting messages echoing throughout the world their children will grow up in.
Here I Am helps parents and grandparents:

Why does Here I Am come in two different versions?
This book counteracts a false anthropology that is predominant in contemporary understandings of gender, which roots girl-ness and boy-ness in feelings, perceptions, and stereotypes rather than the sex of the body.
Human personhood is expressed in two distinct modes: male and female. Having two separate versions for boys and girls shows, not just tells that being a boy or a girl is fundamentally about the body.

Abigail Favale is a writer and professor in the McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of The Genesis of Gender: A Christian Theory. She lives with her husband and four children in Indiana.

Anna Abramskaya was born in Sevastopol, Ukraine and graduated from the Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts. Her favorite medium is pencils and she loves classical music. She now lives in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband and two little daughters.
